Shaq Daddy and the Suns Come to Town

The West's and East's 6th seeds will battle Friday night in South Philly. The Sixers are coming off of a blow out win over Chicago and look to keep their hot month of March rolling. The Suns fell to the Celtics in Boston Wednesday 117-97.

Steve Nash is having another great season averaging 11.2 assists per game and 17.5 points per game. The Suns are 7-3 in their last 10, but haven't been so hot as of late dropping their last 2 games.

With a win tonight and a Wizards loss in Sacremento, the Sixers took take over sole possession of the 5th seed in the east.

Tipoff is 7:00 PM.

Take the All-Time Phillies Poll

Over at Philly.com

All-Time Phils

Wasn't surprised by any of the results.

What Do You Want In Your Easter Basket?

A Flyers win tonight against the Islanders would be quite alright in my basket. The Isles will visit the Fly Boys in South Philly tonight for their Easter dinner.

But instead of a Heavenly Ham that I will be enjoying, hopefully our foes from Long Island will be receiving countless pucks in the back of their net, and perhaps some fisticuffs for desert.

A Flyers win would give them 86 points with the 7th seed. A must win for the Flyers.

March Pub Review: Khyber

the Khyber
56 S. Second St. Philadelphia 19106

Took the train over to Philly Thursday and went to Khyber for Happy Hour.

I was pretty impressed with the beer Kenzinger, brewed by the Philadelphia Brewery Company. Kenzinger is a tasty golden blonde ale, Kyhber had them on tap for $2.

Khyber also has $1 domestic bottles during their 5 PM-8PM happy hour. In the side room Khyber has a stage where bands play every night.

Decent place to meet with buddies, but was the only bar in Philly without March Madness on, instead they had Asian Extreme Biking on the television, but it was quite an entertaining show.

Also has a great juke box for those classic rock/metal lovers.

Khyber receives 2.5/5 frozen mugs from the Philly Sports Press.

Flyers Organization Takes Down Rangers and their Farm

The Flyers and Phantoms took down both the Rangers and their AHL affiliate the Hartford Wolf Pack in shootouts Friday night in South Philly.

A much needed 2 points for the Flyers has them currently sitting in the 7th position for the playoffs with 84 points, trailing the Rangers by 4 points as the 6th seed. The Bruins are just a hair behind the Flyers by 1 point sitting in the 8th seed.

Mike Richards scored the first goal of the game his 26th of the year, and Danny Briere tallied two goals in the 3rd period numbers 27 and 28 on the year.

Richards and Jeff Carter scored in the shootout as Martin Biron stoned the Rangers.

The Phantoms beat the Wolf Pack 5-4 in a shootout and remain tops of the East Division.

The Flyers will host the New York Islanders on Easter Sunday, puck drops at 7:00 PM.

If A.I. was still a Sixer?

Let me start off by saying, I am a huge Allen Iverson fan, he single handedly carried the Sixers on his back countless times and made strong playoff runs. Plus he made the Sixers exciting again and rocked the Wachovia Center.

But heres your ANSWER: Sure the Sixers would still be a playoff contender in the East, because who isn't other then the Knicks?

The East is horrible, but the Sixers are better off without A.I. The Sixers currently hold the 7th seed only a .5 behind the Wizards, and 1 game behind the Raptors for the 5th seed.

With the Answer still playing in Philly we would be missing out on point guard Andre Miller, who has made every player on the Sixers better. Lou Williams is finally seeing a nice amount minutes with 22.8 a game.

Sammy Dalembert actually looks strong averaging 2.7 blocks per game.

Iverson will return to the Wachovia Center Wenesday night when the Nuggets and Sixers tip it off. Williams was quoted about Iverson's return, " We got to show him we can win without him."

RB Kevin Jones to the Birds?

The Eagles are one of 12 teams talking to former Lion's running back Kevin Jones. Jones grew up in the Philly Burbs and said he'd love to play for the Eagles, the team he grew up rooting for.

Jones would back up Westbrook for the Birds. Jones has rushed for 3,067 yards on 761 carries, with 24 touchdowns in his 4 years in the NFL.

Buckhalter still has the back-up tailback job in my book for at-least the 2008 season. Buckhalter had a healthy 2007 season rushing for 313 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Don't drink too many green beers and Irish Car Bombs.

With the season winding down the Flyers have just 3 wins in March. The Flyers have just 9 games left to get their act together if they want to reach the playoffs. The Sabres are just 1 point behind the fading Flyers.
The Flyers will hit the ice again on Tuesday when they host the Atlanta Thrashers.
