Lupul Lifts Flyers over Preds

The visiting Nashville Predators where shut down by the Flyers tonight. Joffrey Lupul added two goals to lift the Flyers to a 4-1 victory.

The second period had most of the games action including two goals and two fights.

Daniel Carcillo fought Nashville's Greg De Vries at 13:01 of the second period. Two seconds later Riley Cote dropped the gloves with Wade Belak.

Martin Biron had 31 saves on the night.

Flyers now have 80 points on the season, good enough for fourth in the Eastern Division.

Phillies Look to Sweep Dodgers

The Phillies Brett Myers (6-10) will start against LA's Chad Billingsley (12-9) tonight at 7:05 PM.

With a win tonight the Phils would sweep the Dodgers, just like the Dodgers swept the Phils last week in LA.

The Mets come to town tomorrow for a two game series. With just 32 games left in the season the Phils trail the Mets by just a half game.

The Mets may be cooked though, having lost closer Billy Wagner for the rest of the season, and John Maine may miss the rest of the season also.

Get Ready to Boo Jimmy

"I might catch some flak for saying this, but, you know, they're front-runners. When you're doing good, they're on your side. When you're doing bad, they're completely against you." said Rollins on the Best Damn Sports Show Period last Thursday.

Tonight is the Phillies first game back home at Citizens Bank Park since Rollins' asinine comments on national television.

Let the Boo Birds come out hardcore tonight.

Trade Deadline Came and Went

The Phillies made no moves on the day of the non-waiver trade deadline.

The biggest move of the day was a three team deal including the Red Sox, Dodgers and Pirates.

The Dodgers received Manny Ramirez, the Red Sox got Jason Bay and the Pirates received Brandon Moss and Craig Hansen from the Red Sox and Andy LaRoche and Bryan Morris from the Dodgers.

Also, Ken Griffy Jr. was dished to the White Sox for pitcher Nick Masset and second baseman Danny Richar. Griffy had the option to refuse the trade but he accepted the trade to the White Sox.

So we didn't get Manny, oh well either did the Marlins or Mets. Look for the Phils GM Pat Gillick to make a move over the waiver wire.

Rollins Late to Rubber Match

Jimmy Rollins was scratched from today's series finale against the Mets.

According to Jason Starks the Phillies showed up at 10:30 AM to Shea Stadium today, but J-Roll did not show up until 11 AM which bothered Charlie Manuel and is the reason Rollins was scratched from the line-up.

Apparently Rollins drove his own car to the game and was late because of "traffic". Either way he was late to the biggest game of the year, which the Phillies lost.

The Phillies are now in second place behind the Mets.

Last year's MVP has all the swagger with no swing this year. Jimmy needs to get his head in the game.
